Getting organised - is it all about structure? And what structure works?

Ok - so this is my new deal. It's all about the post-its. Love the colours - love the physical nature of it. It's called a Kanban board - and its all about seeing everything in your head in front of you.
Sometimes I can get really overwhelmed by the tasks that I think I have to do - I find this process really good as I actually it is all out of my brain. The buzzy stress thoughts stop floating and I can see what is the highest priority and what I need to be starting with.
It is of course - also really satisfying because once a task is done, I can take the task and put it in the done list. I currently revisit the board approx once a week - and shift things around. But it is also helpful as often something comes up and I think - oh s**t have to do that too. I scribble it on a piece of paper and put it up. At least then I know I don't need to remember to do it later.

So I have been thinking about this on a wider scale. Like diets, I often find processes like this are a little fashionable. Start something wholeheartedly, spreading the gospel of its virtues, but then fade away from it. I wonder what other people use, and which processes are actually sustainable. I'll see how this one goes. I feel assured that this is a visual process of one that I was already doing across a Evernote and my physical diaries. The key step here is that I have made it more visual which is help for me.

The other step on a wider scale - I can see this being really effective when working with students on larger projects. So on that note - I am looking for a digital platform to do it on - so I can link it into their learning. Watch this space.
